CHAIN OF COMMAND
Welcome to the FBI's Chain of Command. We operate under a 7‑Branch System made up of 23 ranks, each with unique duties, permissions, and expectations. Our structure includes 7 Low Command ranks, 5 Middle Command ranks, 5 High Command ranks, and 6 Senior High Command ranks.
Senior High Command ▶
The Senior High Command section consists of 6 ranks. These ranks hold the highest authority and therefore require the least permissions. Board of Directors Director Deputy Director Co‑Deputy Director Trial Director Directorship Team Chief of Staff Operations Director The highest rank is at the top, and the lowest is at the bottom.
High Command ▶
The High Command section consists of 5 ranks. These ranks hold nearly all permissions and serve as the second‑highest authority. Executive Command Executive Council Associate Executive Chiefs of Command Team Section Chief Unit Chief Field Office Deputy Chief The highest rank is at the top, and the lowest is at the bottom.
Middle Command ▶
The Middle Command section consists of 5 ranks. These ranks form the core leadership between Low and High Command. National Security Branch Head of National Security Deputy Head of National Security Assistant Head of National Security National Security Agent Trial National Security Agent The highest rank is at the top, and the lowest is at the bottom.
Low Command ▶
The Low Command section consists of 7 ranks. These ranks hold the least permissions and form the foundation of the FBI’s leadership structure.
